Do you have experience leading continuous improvement activities within a manufacturing / production environment, looking to join a highly successful rail manufacturer, which is currently experiencing sustained growth, after securing a major export deal? Are you looking to step into a newly created role, where you will directly contribute to the success of a long-standing business, with ongoing opportunities for career development?

This role is for someone with a background in continuous improvement, to drive operational excellence across the production team. You will support teams, improve performance, ensure compliance with health and safety standards and lead continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable results.

The Company: We are working with a rail engineering and manufacturing business based in Mansfield, recognised for delivering high-quality rolling stock and engineered solutions to the rail sector. The company is in an exciting phase of growth, supported by a major international export deal, driving continued investment and growth across the business.

The Role:

  • Coordinate and support production teams across multiple workstations
  • Monitor performance, operational standards, and production output against plan
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across productivity, quality, waste, and processes
  • Troubleshoot machinery, material, and operational issues - ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained and operating effectively
  • Promote and enforce health & safety procedures
  • Deliver health & safety and operational training to production teams
  • Support production and operational planning alongside senior management
  • Maintain clear communication between management and production teams
  • Analyse operational KPIs and performance data to identify improvement opportunities

The Person:

  • Continuous improvement / operations improvement experience
  • Manufacturing or production environment (heavy engineering / manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis
