The predicted salary is between 39 - 52 £ per hour.

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract.

Rate: £50.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage or Bristol (depending on your preference)

Hybrid / Remote working: 4 days a week likely onsite (likely could be lower on a week by week basis; depending on work). 1 day remote. (flexible on start and finish time). A compressed 4 day week (Monday to Thursday) a possibility.

Contract: 37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at time and a quarter

Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

An opportunity to become part of Europe's No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customers' needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
  • Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
  • Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
  • Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
  • Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
  • Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity.
