Certain Advantage is hiring for a Junior Plant Fitter / Maintenance Technician based within a commutable distance to Chesterfield. This is a permanent, full-time position primarily based at the depot, working closely alongside the workshop team and senior fitters.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful contractor working on specialist geotechnical and structural projects nationwide. You will work across a diverse fleet of plant machinery, engines, and specialist equipment in a supportive, hands-on workshop environment.

The Company: We are working with a leading specialist engineering contractor, providing innovative solutions on technically challenging civil, geotechnical, and structural projects across the UK.

The Role: You will focus on routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and basic repair of workshop equipment. Day to day you will:

  • Carry out routine servicing, basic mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance on workshop plant.
  • Work across a broad mix of machinery, including small engines, compressors, track dumpers, excavators, hydraulic drills, and winches.
  • Assist senior fitters with basic fault diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Accompany senior fitters on occasional site visits to gain hands-on field experience.
  • Record service and maintenance activity accurately.

The Individual: We are open to candidates from a variety of mechanical backgrounds. We are looking for people who can show:

  • Practical mechanical experience (e.g., Automotive Mechanics, HGV Technicians, Agricultural Machinery, Plant, Quarry, or Factory Maintenance backgrounds).
  • A recently completed NVQ Level 1/2 or apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline is desirable but not essential.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence.
