Role: Assistant Management Accountant
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum
Location: East Lothian

My client is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Management Accountant to join their Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering timely, accurate monthly management accounts and supporting the wider business with financial insight.

What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Assist with the preparation and reporting of subsidiary and Group management accounts.
  • Support month-end close, including cashbook, sales, purchase and nominal ledgers.
  • Maintain and reconcile fuel stock, fuel card usage, fixed asset, and HP registers.
  • Prepare monthly journals and post payroll and expenses from Sage Payroll to Opera 3 SE.
  • Conduct variance analysis for Agency Labour, Plant Hire, Overheads and Trade Waste Operations.
  • Produce MI and analysis including sales and profit reports for senior management.
  • Assist with budgets, forecasts, and audit preparation.
  • Provide holiday cover for weekly payroll processing and support ledger and credit control teams when required.

What We\'re Looking For

  • Part qualified accountant with recent experience in finance processes and reporting.
  • Highly proficient in Excel with strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • A great communicator who can explain financial information clearly to finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and committed to continuously improving processes.
  • Experience in high-growth companies, knowledge of VAT/corporation tax, and Power BI skills are a bonus.
