World Class Defence Organisation based in is currently looking to recruit 2x Tooling Design Engineer subcontractors.

Rate: £50.00 per hour
Overtime Rate: Hours worked over the standard 37 hours per week, will be paid at ‘time and a quarter’
Location: Bolton
Hybrid / Remote working: 2 days per week onsite – the rest working from home. A 4 day week (Monday to Thursday) is OK.
Duration: 6 Months with very likely extension. Contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter.
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)
Interview process: One stage video interview

Tooling Design Engineer Job Description:

The Tool Design Team is at the heart of a rapidly evolving and high demand sector, delivering smart, adaptable tooling solutions across a wide range of aerospace projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical and innovative tool design solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals
  • Re-engineer existing solutions updating models, configuration and associated documentation.
  • Manage your own project timelines and priorities ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Skillset/experience required:

  • Ideally HNC/HND qualified with significant experience in Tool Design and Definition
  • Must have a significant amount of 3D modelling experience and be able to assess 3D models for their quality. Experience in 3D annotations would be a distinct advantage (preferably CREO)
  • Ability to translate design intent from 3D models into high quality 2D/3D definitions (preferably CREO)
  • Strong background in the production of engineering drawings with high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of BS8888 Technical product documentation and specification, ISO 1101 Geometrical product specifications, ISO 5459 Datum and datum systems and similar standards and GD & T
  • Great communication skills with the drive and initiative to influence a network of stakeholders
