We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Enterprise Architect to lead the technical strategy and governance for a high-profile, multi-million Pound digital transformation programme in the telecommunications sector.
This role is critical to ensuring the successful design and delivery of complex, time-sensitive BSS/OSS ecosystems that support business-critical operations for a major telecoms client.
The ideal candidate will possess deep domain knowledge in telecoms architecture, strong technical governance capabilities, and a proven track record in thought leadership across cross‑functional and vendor‑led delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the enterprise architecture vision, aligning it with business strategy and programme objectives.
- Act as the technical authority across the programme, providing architectural direction and technology roadmap evolution.
- Deliver technical thought leadership, driving innovation, standardisation, and adoption of best practices across BSS/OSS layers.
- Establish and enforce technical governance frameworks and architecture principles across all programme phases.
- Ensure architecture artefacts, decision logs, and design documentation meet compliance, quality, and audit requirements.
- Facilitate architecture reviews, design assurance, and risk management activities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the design of scalable, modular, and resilient BSS/OSS solutions, integrating with legacy systems and modern platforms.
- Oversee solution architecture workstreams across multiple delivery teams and ensure consistency with target state architecture.
- Translate business and operational requirements into technology designs that are deliverable within programme constraints.
- Document and communicate the technology designs to the delivery teams and provide support in the execution of the delivery of the programme.
- Partner with executives, programme directors, product owners, and delivery teams to align architecture with delivery milestones.
- Engage and influence client stakeholders, third‑party vendors, and system integrators to drive architectural consensus.
- Present complex technical solutions in clear, compelling ways to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Required Experience & Skills
- Experience in enterprise architecture roles, with recent experience in telecoms sector.
- Proven success in leading architecture for large‑scale BSS/OSS transformation programmes.
- Deep understanding of telecom standards, protocols, and technologies (TM Forum frameworks, Open APIs, 5G readiness).
- Strong capability in architecture governance, enterprise frameworks (e. g., TOGAF), and agile or hybrid programme delivery.
- Experience in multi‑vendor environments, managing cross‑functional architecture inputs, and driving end‑to‑end integration.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel and spend time onsite internationally.
- Experience with cloud‑native architectures (e. g., AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, microservices, and Dev Sec Ops practices.
- Familiarity with data architecture, AI/ML applications in telecom, and enterprise security models.
- Certification in TOGAF, TM Forum, or related architecture frameworks.
