About the role
We are currently seeking a CAD Manager to join the Northumbrian Water design team. This role involves delivering high‑quality design solutions across water and wastewater projects, both infrastructure and non‑infrastructure schemes, as part of a multidisciplinary team through the full project lifecycle from feasibility to construction and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire CAD process from initial design to final documentation.
- Work to appropriate project controls, guidelines and procedures.
- Lead CAD design and document control teams and other team members in a wide range of design tasks.
- Lead design outputs in accordance with company and client CAD procedures and standards.
- Develop and implement CAD standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Manage and mentor all grades of CAD technicians.
- Support CAD software and hardware management, including licensing, performance and compatibility.
- Manage vendor and partner CAD relationships.
- Support and develop the CAD structure and activities of the business.
- Promote innovation and technology.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent learning agreement/apprenticeship and a technical qualification (HNC, HND, etc.).
- Basic understanding of the design of water/wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure works.
- Good understanding of BIM on a project and ability to lead its implementation.
- Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud ACC, AutoCAD, Autodesk Bridge, Revit, Civil 3D, Datum 360, and other related engineering packages.
- Familiar with water and wastewater design techniques and solutions.
- Basic knowledge of clients and the water market.
- Understand programme delivery and notify design lead of issues that affect delivery.
- Using relevant Quality Management System processes and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly CDM Regulations.
- Strong written and oral communication and organisational skills; ability to produce clear, concise reports.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet deadlines.
- Client‑focused approach to service delivery.
- Self‑motivated with a drive to achieve continuous improvement targets.
- Equivalent experience accepted by invitation.
Salary: £48,500 - £60,000 (DOE)
