Purpose of the role
As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be supporting the development of world‑leading solid oxide technology aimed at enabling the global transition to clean, affordable energy. In this role, you will be responsible for executing test plans for verification, validation, and development testing of Ceres’ solid oxide technologies. You will prepare and commission test stands and platforms, install test pieces, and develop processes to ensure the production of auditable data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and analysing test data
- Producing detailed test reports
- Presenting findings and recommendations
- Leading fault‑finding and issue investigations
- Contributing to improvement projects
- Creating work instructions, standard operating procedures, and risk assessments
- Supporting test scheduling and planning
- Collaborating with the Test Capability team on test stand design and development
- Working with the Test Strategy team to develop robust test plans
- Providing technical leadership to less experienced engineers
- Interfacing with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure successful commissioning and delivery of new systems
Knowledge and skills for the role:
- Several years post‑graduate industrial experience
- BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar
- Ability to visualise and summarise data, perform basic sense checking, identify inconsistencies, and carry out basic thermodynamic calculations (e.g. efficiency, simple heat balances)
- Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics
