Purpose of the role: As an Ink Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, optimisation and support of advanced ink manufacturing processes and equipment, enabling the continued advancement of Ceres’ fuel cell technology. You will be responsible for the transfer of technical knowledge, process scale‑up activities, and the specification, installation, qualification and commissioning of new manufacturing processes and equipment, both within Ceres and at customer sites. A key aspect of the role will be ensuring the successful implementation of robust manufacturing controls and documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, control plans and risk assessments, to support safe, efficient and repeatable operations. You will provide hands‑on engineering support for ink manufacturing operations at our Horsham and Redhill facilities, driving product innovation, process optimisation and operational excellence while working closely with cross‑functional teams across R&D, Manufacturing and Engineering.

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • MSc/BEng/MEng or PhD in Chemical/Process engineering or Chemistry
  • Several years proven experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer
  • A proven track record of applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis methodologies to deliver continuous improvement
  • Industrial process expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Scale up of chemical processes from lab/pilot to industrial
    • Milling techniques (ball‑milling, vibro‑milling, triple roll milling, others)
    • Ceramics processing
    • Characterisation techniques such as rheology, particle size analysis etc.
  • Experience with ink formulations, particle dispersion technologies, milling processes and associated analytical characterisation techniques
  • Ability to define verification and validation plans and run production trials
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data, optimise processes and develop practical engineering solutions based on experimental findings
  • Provide support for manufacturing operations internally at Ceres UK sites
  • Experience in equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification (FAT/SAT)
  • Demonstrated project planning and delivery experience
  • Experience with new equipment introduction (supplier and facilities coordination)
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation
  • Clear and concise technical communication and reporting
