We are looking to recruit a Highways Maintenance Works Leader, to join our Highways and Environmental Services team on a permanent basis, based at our Penrhos Depot in Llandysul.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Manage teams of Highways Maintenance Operatives.
  • Manage both in-house resources and work undertaken by external contractors.
  • Deliver the front-line Highways Maintenance Service, including the planning and coordination of works, providing efficient and effective services to the people of Ceredigion.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken is prioritised and recorded appropriately using the Service’s dedicated asset management systems.

We are looking to recruit an individual who has:

  • A full Valid UK Driving license.
  • Extensive knowledge of Highway Maintenance Activities.
  • Promotes safe working practices.
  • Enthusiasm and drive for maintaining the highway infrastructure.
  • A positive attitude towards change and a desire to make a difference.

The post requires a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. Please note that a successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the required standard within two years of appointment.

  • Transport Services: Corporate transport; Fleet management; Parking Services; Harbours.
  • Highways Maintenance: Cyclic and Routine Maintenance; Emergency response; Highways inspection; Winter service.
  • Highways Development: Planning liaison; Road safety; Regional transport; Street lighting; Streetworks; Traffic management; CWIC/NMWTRA; Design supervision; Flood and coastal risk management; Highways improvement.
  • Local Environment Services: Waste Collections; Household waste sites; Grounds maintenance; Street cleaning.

Penrhos Depot serves the southern half of our county. Penrhos is located on the A near the border town of Llandysul.
