Location: Primary starting location: Dorchester Area (within 30 minutes travel). Coverage includes: South Wales, Devon, Dorset (including Isle of Wight), Bristol, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire.

Contract Type: Full Time / Field Based.

Role Purpose: To deliver high-quality field engineering support across the regions Prison Pin contract, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and fault resolution of voice and data infrastructure within secure environments. The role requires working within prison and court estates, ensuring all work is completed safely, compliantly, and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver installation, maintenance, and break-fix activities across voice and data infrastructure.
  • Undertake structured cabling, socket installation, and patching (voice and data).
  • Support fault diagnosis and resolution within SLA requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with network and support teams as required.
  • Operate safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations, including fire stopping and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work undertaken and ensure adherence to process and procedure.
  • Work within secure environments under escort, following all MoJ protocols and guidelines.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in cabling and socket installation.
  • Working knowledge of telephony systems (voice patching).
  • Basic data networking knowledge (data patching and infrastructure support).
  • Competent in the use of tools and equipment (e.g. drills).
  • Understanding of relevant compliance requirements, including fire stopping and site safety.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working within secure or restricted environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure contracts.

Accreditation and Compliance:

  • Security Clearance (SC) - essential.
  • Additional MoJ clearance required.
  • Ability to comply with all site-specific security, safety, and operational procedures.

  • Prison estate (comms rooms, prison wings, and cells).
  • MoJ court environments.
  • Secure areas requiring escorted access.
  • Physically and operationally challenging environments.

Travel Requirements: Extensive travel across the defined region is required. Flexibility to attend multiple sites, often at specific times aligned with operational access and escort availability.

Working Hours: Standard working hours with requirement for flexibility. Participation in out-of-hours (OOH) working as required. Potential participation in a contractual on-call rota on a rotational basis.
