Description:
Overview of the role
The Position of Piping Design Engineer aims at supporting the field design activities for the piping discipline. It will lead to handling different interfaces with several disciplines and solving piping engineering topics raised during on-site installation of pipework and associated supports. The main tasks will be the following:
- Gathering input data, analysing/updating hypotheses notes, and preparing loading description reports.
- Engaging with various stakeholders (installation contractors, CW interfaces, other disciplines).
- Performing mechanical stress analysis: piping flexibility calculations, piping supports calculations, or any analysis required to resolve encountered issues.
- Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications if sizing criteria are not met.
- Closing open points and comments.
- Assessing and integrating modifications coming from the stakeholders after packages handed over to Joint Design Office.
- Doing hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of modification.
- Checking calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies.
- Maintaining QA procedures in delivering the design.
- Working with CAD designers/detailers in the preparation of the design drawings.
Key Relationships:
The employee will be highly interacting with the discipline manager to support them in the organisation of the team. They will be in charge of interacting with the different stakeholders to ensure the closure of site queries in compliance with the project milestones.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Master in science, Mechanical engineering degree.
- First experience of 2 years minimum in piping mechanical design, nuclear industry or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Eurocode, ASME and RCC-M code.
- Knowledge of piping sequence including detailed design, execution design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software: PDMS, Navisworks, Pipe stress, RSTAB, ANSYS SPDL and WORKBENCH.
- Knowledge of piping and support calculation tools.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Curious, motivated to learn.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset.
- Knowledge of nuclear engineering and specifications, building NI, CI & BoP buildings would be beneficial.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
- Good organisational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realisation of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.
- Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
