About the role:
We are actively looking to hire a qualified (inc QBE) or finalist ACCA / CIMA accountant as Head of Management Accounts on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting and wide-ranging role that will report directly to the Group Financial Controller. The role includes:
- Managing and supporting a team of 7 management accountants, based in Colchester and remote
- Managing and overseeing the overall month-end process
- Reviewing the branch P&Ls and the consolidated P&L
- Variance analysis – both MoM and to budget / forecast
- Partnering with the FP&A team to ensure accurate reporting
- Preparing monthly reporting pack including bridging actuals to budget, KPI analysis and branch analysis
- Continuous improvement of the month-end process
- Reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Dealing with external auditors and assisting with queries
- Answering ad hoc queries for management / wider finance
The role would suit an experienced Management Accountant who has led a team and is looking to progress their career with a leading HealthTech company.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified accountant (inc QBE) / finalist with good knowledge of UK GAAP
- Experience of producing management accounts, including variance analysis
- Experience of leading, managing and developing a team of accountants
- Experience of calculating judgemental accruals
- Experience of working with auditors to complete statutory audits
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- A positive, proactive attitude with the energy to execute
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly
- Strong Excel skills are critical (we love Excel in finance!)
