Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: St Helens
Start: September 2026
Daily rate: £92.59 – £110, dependant on experience.
CER Education are looking for Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across St Helens and the surrounding areas starting from September 2026.
This role would be ideal for someone who enjoys supporting children’s development and wants to make a positive difference in a primary school setting.
Whether you already have school-based experience or are keen to start a career in education, CER can offer flexible day-to-day supply work and longer-term placements to suit your availability and career goals.
Role responsibilities
- Helping to prepare learning materials, organise classroom resources and maintain a welcoming, inclusive learning environment.
- Supporting individual pupils and small groups to develop their focus, participation and progress during lessons.
- Assisting the class teacher with daily classroom activities, pupil routines, transitions and supervision as required.
- Offering additional 1:1 support to children with SEND or other learning needs, encouraging confidence, independence and active engagement.
Preferred skills
- Experience working with children or young people, either in a school, childcare, care, coaching or support setting, would be advantageous.
- A relevant childcare, education or supporting teaching and learning qualification would be useful but is not required.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to complete a new DBS application through CER.
