CER Education are expanding our team of dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support a range of partnership schools across the Welwyn area. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact supporting pupils with a wide variety of special educational needs, including PMLD, MLD, and complex learning difficulties.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will support students across the curriculum, working closely with teachers and SEN teams to deliver meaningful and personalised learning. You will have the opportunity to work in diverse settings, build new skills, and shape the educational experience of pupils who need your support the most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support classroom learning and adapt activities in line with pupils’ EHCPs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of special needs
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments with confidence and resilience
  • Use a variety of communication methods, strategies, and resources to enhance engagement
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teachers, and other support staff to share best practice

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs
  • Previous experience in a UK school (references required)
  • Strong communication, patience, and relationship–building skills
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils reach their full potential
  • Early Career Teaching Assistants are encouraged to apply — full guidance and induction support is available.
