CER Education Recruitment is currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to work within a friendly primary school in the S35 area of Sheffield.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, site supervisor, facilities assistant, or maintenance professional looking to play a vital role in ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained learning environment for pupils and staff.
The Role
As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and security of the school premises, helping to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the whole school community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Opening and securing the school site each day
- Carrying out general maintenance and minor repair work
- Conducting regular health and safety checks
- Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and well-maintained
- Monitoring site security and reporting any issues
- Liaising with contractors and external service providers
- Supporting with room setups for school events and activities
- Managing deliveries and site-related documentation
- Undertaking basic decorating, plumbing, or maintenance tasks where appropriate
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or estates role
- Good DIY and practical maintenance skills
- Knowledge of basic health and safety procedures
- A hardworking and proactive approach
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly manner
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
