CER are currently recruiting an SEND Teacher for a specialist SEN School in Liverpool. The school provides both care and education services to children and young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties aged 8-19 years old. The school is looking for a qualified teacher who has previous experience working with moderate to severe learning difficulties or in an early years/primary setting.
The role will primarily involve leading a group of teaching assistants to deliver a thematic curriculum through play for the most complex students. All students in this class receive 1:1 or 2:1 support; some pupils are non-verbal and use alternative communication methods. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy liaising with parents, colleagues, allied agencies and pupils. You must be computer literate and able to handle sensitive, confidential information. You need to be independent and self-motivated.
As a teacher you will need a knowledge and understanding of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Assessment, and it is vital that you have curriculum experience within Ofsted and regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities- Be an active participant of the school team
- Lead by example, articulating clear values and moral purpose, and focus on providing excellent education for all pupils
- Undertake the normal responsibilities of a class teacher
- Be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils, including monitoring progress towards achievement
- Relevant degree level teaching qualification and/or experience in a school
- QTS/QTLS is desirable
- Experience working in a SEMH school with children who have learning difficulties and can display severe challenging behaviour is desirable
- Experience of Ofsted and other regulatory body inspections
