Salary: £14.25 to £17.29 per hour + Free Parking, CPD Courses, Pension Scheme

Location: Blyth

Shift Pattern: 8:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Examining the Role:

CER Education are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant with Sports Coaching experience to work in one of our partner SEN schools in Blyth. The school is an alternative provision for students with special educational needs (SEN), including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

Requirements:

  • At least 3 months relevant experience in sports or related coaching, football coaching, fitness, residential or SEMH settings.
  • Applications from graduates in relevant fields, including Sports Coaching, Sport and Development, Level 3 in Sport are encouraged.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is not required, but applicants with these qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students, mainly between the ages of 11 and 19 years old with SEMH, ASD or ADHD.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions and support strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and confidence.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students in both academic and social development, helping them to build essential life skills.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support, ensuring students feel safe and valued.
  • Support the class teacher with managing behaviour within the classroom.
  • Support on school trips, outreach days and life skills lessons.
