VAT Manager

cer Financial are delighted to be partnering with a Top 20 accounting firm who are looking to appoint an experienced and ambitious VAT Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of VAT clients across sectors such as finance, insurance, fintech, property and retail.
- Provide VAT advisory support on complex issues, including restructurings, transactions, HMRC disputes and cross-border matters.
- Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional advisory work.
- Prepare and review VAT reports, due diligence and complex VAT returns.
- Manage WIP, billing and fee proposals to ensure profitable client delivery.
- Review junior team members’ work and provide technical guidance.
- Support tenders, audit assignments and staff training.
- Manage direct reports where required.
The candidate needs:
- Strong VAT advisory experience gained in practice.
- Thorough knowledge of UK VAT principles and current legislation.
- Experience advising corporate and owner-managed businesses on complex VAT matters.
- Strong report writing, analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to explain technical VAT issues clearly to non-specialists.
- Commercially aware with strong client-management skills.
- Good Microsoft Word skills; Excel and PowerPoint beneficial.
- ACA/CA/CTA or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
