Our client is looking for a Junior Trade Accountant to join their accounts team on a permanent basis. This is an opportunity for a newly qualified Accountant or part qualified Accountant with 1 or 2 years’ experience to obtain hands-on exposure in order to develop your finance experience. The incumbent will be expected to support Senior team members in their daily accounting and control activities of the trade desk, month-end accounting tasks, and time built in for work on projects and process improvements. This role will combine daily responsibilities, and training from the team of experienced commodity specialists.

Key Responsibilities:- Support the Trade Accountants with the daily and monthly activities for softs trading desk, daily P&L, cash accounting, reconciliations and journal postings.
- Work closely with the accounting team overseas and ensure that their daily work/processes are reviewed and approved - escalating any issues to the Trade Accountants or Financial Controller.
- Support the Trade Accountants with process improvement by identifying inefficiencies in the trade accounting workflows and proposing automation or system enhancements.
- Support implementation of standardised procedures and internal controls to strengthen accuracy, transparency and audit readiness.
- Assist with ad hoc queries from trade and shipping teams.
- Support ad hoc cyclical finance activities such as assisting in monthly cash-flow forecasting, FX exposure management, and new system implementation.
- Knowledge of Navision and Cognos or a similar system.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel is also required.
