Maintenance Operative in Ipswich

Cephas Care has been in operation for over 30 years, and we have been putting care at the heart of everything we do, since operations began.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join the team that works across 16 supported living services where we care for a range of young adults living with a variety of needs.

Contract: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £28,500.00 per annum

The Maintenance Operative will be responsible for performing multiple maintenance tasks.

Cephas Care will provide a van and tools to the person fulfilling this position.

In view of the vulnerable nature of the people we support, staff must be of the highest integrity, have patience, kindness, and an understanding of the needs of the individual, and relate to both customers and staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertake small building projects and provide general maintenance support.
• Painting and decorating as and when required.
• Assist with the collection, delivery and removal of items as requested.
• Undertake general maintenance checks, ensuring the service meets Health & Safety compliance.
• Discuss maintenance concerns with the employer, report any accidents and complete appropriate documentation immediately.
• Provide on-call assistance (evenings & weekends on rotation)
• Support apprentices with developing their skills.

Key Attributes:

• Previous experience of carrying out maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic construction and property maintenance.
• Ability to carry out basic property repairs to a high standard.
• Ability to lone work with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills, interpersonal, written and verbal.
• Personable and approachable.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Full and clean driving licence.
• Problem solver.
• Understanding of COSHH.
