Curriculum & Assessment Developer

Location: Work from home – anywhere in the UK. Attendance in our London office is required for occasional company days.

Contract: Full-time, Fixed-term 12-month contract (Maternity cover)

Start date: From November onwards (or January 2027 for applicants still in teaching)

Overview: We are looking for a Curriculum & Assessment Developer to join our team. You will design courses, write and review learning content, and build assessments for the CENTURY platform, which is used by learners and teachers around the world. We would particularly welcome applications from primary teachers with an English specialism, though the role is broader than one subject or phase. The person we are looking for is as comfortable working through a large spreadsheet as they are writing a reading comprehension task, and is happy to pick up work beyond their main teaching background. The ideal candidate will be flexible in thinking, solution-focused, and approaches new challenges with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.

What you will do:

• Map courses to national curricula and awarding body specifications (UK and international)
• Create learning content: slideshows, video scripts, questions and mark schemes
• Design and build assessments, from checkpoint tests to full standardised adaptive assessments
• Review and quality-assure content written by colleagues and external authors
• Work with large content datasets: mapping content, checking metadata and preparing bulk uploads in various formats
• Prepare content from schools and third-party providers that may be imperfect source material
• Use AI tools to assist in day-to-day work, and help the team improve how we use them
• Move between projects as priorities change, and pick up unfamiliar tasks quickly
• Support Customer Success and Sales teams with their questions and queries about our content and assessments

What we are looking for:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the right to work in the UK
• Primary teaching experience
• Experience writing learning resources and assessments for children or adults
• Very IT literate: quick to learn new systems, comfortable working in a content management system, and willing to use AI tools as part of your everyday workflows
• Confidence with shared spreadsheets: formulas, lookups, filtering, and comfortable working with thousands of rows at a time
• Flexible thinking: able to switch between projects and task types without losing accuracy, and comfortable working where the process is still being worked out
• A team player who volunteers for work outside their main experience, shares what they learn, and asks good questions when they get stuck
• Excellent written English and attention to detail, including the ability to write clear instructions and guidance for others
• Passionate about the difference technology can make to outcomes for all learners
• Secondary or cross-phase experience alongside primary experience
• Experience marking or moderating for an awarding body or standardised assessment
• Experience with assessment design principles (item writing, mark scheme construction)
• Comfortable interpreting assessment data (item statistics, reliability, difficulty)
• Experience of scripting, SQL and big data warehouse tools
