Office Based | European Travel | Full-Time
Centum Engineering is entering an exciting new stage of growth. As an established engineering business supporting major projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, our continued expansion has seen Centum deliver services on major data centre and engineering projects in locations including Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark and Portugal, with further growth planned.
As our geographical footprint expands, so does our investment in technology. We are now recruiting an IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to play a key role in the rollout and ongoing development of Centum's IT infrastructure and our newly developed in-house business system. This is not a traditional IT support or helpdesk position. It is an opportunity to join a growing European business at a pivotal stage in its technology development and take genuine ownership of systems that will influence how every department and project within Centum operates.
Our New In-House System
Centum has invested significantly in the expert design and development of a bespoke in-house system created specifically around the needs of our business. The platform has been designed to connect and support functions across Centum, improving how information, people, projects and processes are managed throughout the organisation. With the development work now reaching an exciting stage, our focus is moving towards implementation and rollout across Centum and our European project network. The successful IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer will work closely with our internal development team and business stakeholders to help turn this technology into a fully operational solution. You won't simply inherit an existing IT environment; you will help build, deploy and shape it.
European Project Rollout
Each new project requires a reliable, secure and remotely manageable IT environment. You will travel to project locations when required to assess requirements and establish the appropriate technology and connectivity, including:
- Starlink / Internet Connectivity
- Network Rack
- Firewall
- Ubiquiti
- Wi-Fi
- Point-to-Point Links
- Site Devices
- Clocking Stations
- Remote Management
This could see you supporting a new data centre project in Sweden, followed by an infrastructure deployment in Switzerland, Denmark or Portugal, to name but a few. Once established, you will ensure these environments can be effectively monitored, supported and managed remotely.
What You'll Be Responsible For
This is a broad, hands-on role covering cloud infrastructure, networking, devices, hardware, connectivity, systems integration and user support. Your responsibilities will include:
- Microsoft 365 Administration: Intune, Entra ID, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, tenant administration and migrations.
- Microsoft Intune & Device Management: enrolment, deployment, compliance, security and remote management of laptops, tablets, phones and site devices.
- Samsung Knox device enrolment, management and integration through Knox APIs.
- Networking & NOC Functions: monitoring and managing networks, connectivity, devices and remote project infrastructure.
- Ubiquiti / UniFi: switches, gateways, access points, VLANs, guest networks, VPNs, firewalls and point-to-point wireless networks.
- Starlink Deployment: installation and management across European projects, including hardware, subscriptions, security, data plans, usage and remote monitoring.
- Microsoft Graph & APIs: supporting Graph API, REST APIs, webhooks, third-party integrations and automation.
- Power Automate & AI: identifying opportunities to automate processes and use emerging technology to improve business operations.
- Remote IT Support: supporting employees across laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, clocking stations and other equipment.
- Hardware & Infrastructure: workstations, screens, printers, network/server racks, UPS systems, cooling requirements and physical installations.
- Software & Subscription Management: maintaining central oversight of licences, renewals, costs and usage.
- Digital Security: maintaining secure control of company logins, websites, domains, DNS, hosting, administrator accounts, API credentials and recovery access.
- IT Asset Management: maintaining accurate control of laptops, tablets, phones, Starlink units, networking equipment, screens, printers and other technology assets.
Who We're Looking For
We don't expect one person to be an expert in every technology listed. We are more interested in finding someone with a strong technical foundation, a practical mindset and the ability to take ownership. Experience across several of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Microsoft 365
- Intune
- Entra ID
- Ubiquiti / UniFi
- Starlink
- Networking / NOC
- VPNs
- VLANs
- Firewalls
- Samsung Knox
- Microsoft Graph API
- REST APIs
- Power Automate
- PowerShell
- AI
- CCTV Networking
- Domains / DNS
- IT Asset Management
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is:
- Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working independently.
- Comfortable taking ownership of an IT requirement from beginning to end.
- Equally comfortable troubleshooting hardware, software and networking issues.
- Security conscious and commercially aware.
- Interested in APIs, automation, AI and emerging technology.
- Comfortable working closely with our internal development team.
- Able to communicate effectively with employees, senior management, contractors and project teams.
- Comfortable working in both an office environment and live construction/project environments.
- Willing and able to travel throughout Europe when required.
- Continually interested in how technology can make a growing business better.
Why Join Centum?
Centum is growing, and this role will grow with it. Our continued expansion throughout Europe creates an opportunity for the right person to become an important part of the technology strategy behind that growth. Rather than joining a large IT department and becoming responsible for one small area, you will have exposure across infrastructure, networking, cloud technology, devices, connectivity, cybersecurity, systems implementation, automation and AI. You will work alongside our internal development team while also having the opportunity to see technology deployed in real-world environments across major European projects.
We want someone capable of taking a requirement from: We need this. through: Research ? Design ? Procure ? Install ? Configure ? Secure ? Document ? Support ? Improve. This position offers the right IT professional an opportunity to put their own stamp on a developing technology environment and become a key part of a business with ambitious plans for continued European growth. If you are the type of IT Engineer who sees a problem, takes ownership and gets it resolved and you want a role where your ideas and technical ability can have a genuine impact across an entire organisation we would like to hear from you.
