About the role
We are looking for a Junior CNC Machinist to join our Engineering Services team and develop a career in precision manufacturing.
Working alongside experienced machinists and engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in CNC turning and milling, developing your skills in machine setting, programming, operation and inspection.
- Role responsibilities
- Operate and assist with setting CNC turning and milling machines.
- Load and make basic adjustments to CNC programmes.
- Develop skills in Siemens Shop Mill, Heidenhain or similar controls.
- Read engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances.
- Use verniers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment.
- Assist with first-off inspections and quality checks.
- Develop knowledge of tooling, cutting speeds, feeds and machining processes.
- Work safely and maintain high standards of quality and housekeeping.
About You
You will ideally have a relevant engineering/manufacturing qualification or apprenticeship and some practical workshop or manufacturing experience.
We are looking for someone who is
- Keen to learn and develop CNC machining skills.
- Practical, reliable and methodical.
- Comfortable reading basic engineering drawings.
- Quality and safety focused.
- A good team player with a positive attitude.
CNC experience is desirable but not essential — training and development will be provided.
This is a great opportunity to build a long-term career towards becoming a fully competent CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator, with experience across both turning and milling.
