Job Summary:
We are looking for a Medical Assistant who will assist physicians with physical examinations and carry out nursing treatments and procedures per physician orders. The Medical Assistant should be familiar with departmental policies and community health and social services, maintain good public relations, and work efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Intake – take patient history, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions and document them in the medical record.
- Administer patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider instructions.
- Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
- Check the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
- Maintain lab duties including daily quality checks, specimen processing, result documentation, and monthly QC logs.
- Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites to carry out duties.
- Assist the provider in specialized examinations and procedures as directed.
- Keep and maintain the inventory for the supply room and assist the LVN nurse supervisor in other duties.
- Perform venipuncture as ordered by the provider.
- Abide by infection control policies and procedures, hazardous materials procedures, and all safety policies.
- Demonstrate competence with all patients.
- Participate in the agency’s quality improvement program.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program.
- Experience: Preferred 1 year experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
- Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to deliver excellent customer service to external and internal stakeholders.
