As a Software Engineer, you'll join our Platform Team, developing and enhancing the services that power Hive's smart home ecosystem while supporting customers on their journey to net zero.
Working with modern AWS technologies, including Lambda, ECS, Dynamo DB, API Gateway, Event Bridge, and Cloud Formation, you'll design and build scalable, resilient cloud-native solutions that support everything from smart heating and energy management to electric vehicle charging.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that embraces innovation, explores emerging technologies, and solves complex engineering challenges in a fast-moving industry where no two days are the same.

- Design, build, test, and deliver scalable software solutions that power Hive's smart home ecosystem and create real value for our customers.
- Develop new cloud-native services and platform capabilities, contributing to technical designs and engineering decisions across the product lifecycle.
- Take ownership of the services you build, supporting a \"You build it, you run it\" culture focused on reliability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders, sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and delivering high-quality solutions together.
- Contribute to Agile delivery practices using Git Hub and Scrumban, managing tasks effectively while maintaining clean, well-documented code.
- Continuously enhance your skills and help modernise Hive's technology landscape, always keeping customer needs at the heart of every solution you create.
- What Are The Must Haves
- A curious and agile-minded engineer who loves learning, embraces new technologies, and enjoys solving complex problems in a collaborative environment.
- Strong experience developing software with Go Lang and Python, with knowledge of Java or Kotlin considered a bonus.
- A solid understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, and modern CI/CD practices to deliver high-quality software with confidence.
- Experience building and operating cloud-native applications within AWS, particularly using Lambda, Dynamo DB, and Cloud Formation.
- Familiarity with serverless development frameworks such as Serverless Framework, AWS SAM, or AWS CDK, alongside development tools including Git Hub, Maven, and Gradle.
- A passion for innovation, with an interest in Generative AI-powered development tools and how they can improve engineering productivity, quality, and day-to-day workflows.
