Overview

Join us, be part of more. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it. We’ve powered the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years and are working to make the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. Using thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re helping customers reduce their carbon footprint.

Your role as an apprentice is to help us mend it. Smart meters unlock a greener future by sending real‑time data about energy use, showing customers how much they’re spending and where they can save. You’ll learn to install and repair them—and to ensure customers get the best value from their smart meters. At our award‑winning academies, you’ll gain the qualifications to become a top‑tier Smart Metering Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you’ll visit homes in your area, demonstrating energy‑saving and efficiency practices to customers.

  • Availability to attend training at one of our four UK academies – with accommodation and travel provided if needed.
