Your role as an apprentice is to help us mend it. Smart meters unlock a greener future by sending real‑time data about energy use, showing customers how much they’re spending and where they can save. You’ll learn to install and repair them—and to ensure customers get the best value from their smart meters. At our award‑winning academies, you’ll gain the qualifications to become a top‑tier Smart Metering Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you’ll visit homes in your area, demonstrating energy‑saving and efficiency practices to customers.

Qualifications and Skills
- 4 GCSEs, ideally including Maths & English, at grade C/4 or above or a recognised equivalent.
- A CV that shows a genuine passion for learning a trade and demonstrates mechanical or technical ability and excellent customer service.
- A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less.
- Availability to attend training at one of our four UK academies – with accommodation and travel provided if needed.
What you’ll earn and special benefits
- Starting salary of £15,435 rising to £18,743 at week 28, £22,050 (typically) at week 35, £23,877 (typically) at week 52, and £31,597 (typically) at week 60 of your apprenticeship.
- Salary increases after completing the full programme and aftercare support (typically at week 76) to £37,104 with bonus and add‑ons.
- London Weighting Allowance ranging from £4,000 to £6,000 (dependent on location).
- Expensed electric van for work use with an EV charge point (where applicable) and a charge card.
