Join us, be part of more. We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer.

We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it. At Centrica, technology underpins how we deliver our strategy. You’ll join a team transforming our platforms, strengthening cyber and operational resilience, and embedding a product-led approach that brings engineers, data specialists and business experts together to deliver meaningful outcomes at pace.

We’re scaling automation and AI from proof of concept into real, end-to-end change – improving customer journeys, reducing cost to serve, accelerating delivery, and building the digital foundations that support everything from energy trading and risk to field operations and critical infrastructure.

If you want to solve complex, high-impact problems using modern engineering practices – and help shape the platforms that will define Centrica over the next decade – this is the place to do it.

An opportunity to play your part:

As a Senior Enterprise Architect, you’ll play a key role in shaping and evolving Centrica’s enterprise architecture across a complex and fast-moving technology landscape. You’ll help define platform roadmaps, reference architectures, and architectural guardrails that enable delivery teams to move with pace while staying aligned to wider business priorities and technology strategy. Working across pillars including Retail, Optimisation, Corporate Systems, and Infrastructure, you’ll provide enterprise-level leadership on platform design, application portfolio rationalisation, governance, and emerging technologies such as AI and cloud services.

This is a highly influential role where you’ll bring together strategy, architecture, and stakeholder engagement to improve coherence across the estate, reduce complexity and risk, and support long-term business performance through pragmatic, evidence-based decision making.

Location: hybrid role, with occasional travel to site.

Day to day:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise platform roadmaps for assigned domains, setting clear sequencing, dependencies, and decision points to align technology direction with business priorities and the wider Centrica Technology Strategy.
  • Own and evolve assigned platforms within the enterprise reference architecture, maintaining platform information, lifecycle status, capability mapping, and architectural guardrails to support effective design and governance across the estate.
  • Provide enterprise-level architectural leadership on technology choices, emerging trends, AI adoption, and platform strategy, helping teams make informed decisions that balance cost, risk, resilience, and long-term sustainability.
  • Support application portfolio rationalisation and lifecycle management, reducing duplication, complexity, and technical debt while improving visibility of legacy platforms, decommission dependencies, and transition risks.
  • Work closely with pillar architecture teams, solution architects, engineering functions, and business stakeholders to shape architecture early, build alignment across roadmaps, and ensure decisions are supported by clear evidence and trusted relationships.
  • Contribute to architectural governance through enterprise forums, significance assessments, and standards development, while coaching architects across the wider community and raising overall architectural maturity across the organisation.

What are the must haves:

  • Strong experience in enterprise architecture, with the ability to define and embed reference architectures, platform guardrails, and technology roadmaps across a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application portfolio management, including lifecycle management, rationalisation, capability mapping, and the use of architectural tooling such as LeanIX, ServiceNow APM, or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to influence across a federated, product-led environment, working with senior stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, and business leaders to shape decisions and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Commercial awareness and strong architectural judgement, with the ability to assess build-vs-buy decisions, total cost of ownership, operational impacts, platform risk, and long-term strategic fit.
  • Good understanding of cloud, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, integration patterns, and enterprise data considerations, alongside experience of emerging technologies including AI and their practical application within architectural governance and decision making.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and coaching capability, with the credibility to guide others, improve architectural maturity, and represent enterprise architecture as a trusted strategic function.
