Overview
Working in our British Gas Services & Solutions team (our field force business) the role evaluates customer, sector, product and market pricing requirements. It assesses risk and calculates appropriate prices and structures using actuarial and risk techniques and provides reporting and documentation of pricing structures. Further it drives pricing coherence and pricing compliance across portfolio & analyses the financial impact of actions such as early terminations and cross-selling.
Resolving cross-portfolio pricing issues to secure approval for related price change proposals is part of the role and monitoring the ongoing competitiveness and profitability of product prices. You will gather, clean and validate required qualitative and quantitative data for analytical and/or modelling purposes, and analyse information to identify variances, trends, anomalies, etc. and explain, highlight and refer relevant issues to others. You will develop and refine product development tools based on pricing framework and methodology across the organization. To do this you will work with other functions to improve management of information tools (forecasting models, database facilities to track quote requests, information tools enabling upfront pricing information to sales team).
This role is offered on a 12 mth secondment internally or a FTC externally.
About the role: Some of your accountabilities for this role will include:
- Create accurate & insightful pricing analysis and recommendations, making full use of internal & external data.
- Conduct competitor price reviews, working closely with your Customer colleagues.
- Review end-to-end customer journeys, identifying value opportunities, and forming new & innovative recommendations on price optimisation, for new & existing customers across Home Insurance products.
- Develop and analyse complex models, customer life-time valuation, price elasticity test design, and customer behaviour.
- Help with the implementation of price changes, and monitor the impacts of those changes on key business metrics.
- Contribute to the preparation of pricing governance materials, business case assumptions and financial models, liaising with other areas of the business as necessary.
- Ensure that all pricing activity is aligned to regulatory requirements and has customer fairness at its core.

- Experience in a personal lines retail pricing role or equivalent.
- Strong academic record in a quantitative discipline, E.g. Maths, Statistics, Engineering, etc.
- Highly numerate individual, comfortable with analytical techniques and methods.
- SQL Coding skills.
