Military & Elite Athlete 2026 Talent Placement – Facilitation Lead (Learning & Development) North
November 2026 start
Location: Based at Centrica Park, Leicester, with frequent travel required to Hamilton Academy (Glasgow). Hybrid role with national travel & on-site attendance across various L&D sites when required. It may require flexible working hours to align with training schedules and operational needs.
Length of Placement: 12-month Fixed Term Contract with significant potential to roll off into a Permanent role.

The programme is designed to support you as you transition into a new career. Whether you’re leaving the Armed Forces or finishing an elite sporting career, we welcome the experience, discipline and resilience you bring. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a FTSE100 organisation, receive tailored support, and join a community that values who you are and what you can offer. We have five placement roles available, and the Facilitation Lead role is one of them.
What you’ll do:
- Align learning delivery with Centrica’s strategic goals and operational priorities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of facilitators, promoting trust, accountability and a clear focus on delivery quality and performance.
- Coach team members to build facilitation capability and confidence, including being visibly present in academies to role-model effective delivery techniques.
- Manage facilitator quality and performance through coaching and feedback.
- Influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across functions, working in partnership with Learner Experience and planning teams to optimise delivery and scheduling.
- Use data and analytics to inform decisions, identify performance gaps in delivery and drive improvements in learner outcomes.
- Lead teams through change with empathy and resilience.
- Ensure learning delivery meets internal quality standards & regulatory requirements.
- Manage feedback loops using facilitator insight, learner feedback and performance data.
- Embed accessibility, SEN and inclusive learning principles into all programmes.
- Promote digital and AI-enabled approaches to enhance learning impact and delivery efficiency.

What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for potential, not perfection. You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply:
- Knowledge of learning and development strategies and facilitation best practices.
- Leadership theory and coaching models.
- Learning analytics and performance metrics.
Skills in:
- Coaching and capability building.
- People and performance management.
- Quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder influence and communication.
- Data-driven decision making.
Experience in:
- Leading training and/or L&D teams or facilitation functions.
- Delivering training, coaching, or leading capability development in operational environments: e.g.: HSE, training, engineering, financial - ideally with an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Monitoring and improving learning delivery quality and consistency.
- Digital learning technologies, virtual delivery platforms and AI-enabled tools.
On placement you’ll also have a dedicated business mentor, opportunities to meet senior leaders, and plenty of support to settle into your role.
Who the programme is for:
This placement is open to:
- Military Service Leavers: leaving the Forces or within the 2-year CTP window at application.
- Elite Athletes: international competition experience and/or professional UK sports experience within the last three years.
