About your team: At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move energy. We’re a global renewable energy trading company helping businesses, homes, and societies transition to a sustainable energy future. This Originator role is a maternity cover offering the opportunity to play a key part in growing Centrica Energy’s renewable and corporate energy origination activities across Southern Europe, with a strong focus on Italy and Spain.

About the Role: The Originator is responsible for expanding and executing Centrica Energy’s route‑to‑market and structured origination activities across Southern European power markets, focusing on Italy and Spain. The role blends proactive market development with disciplined deal execution, ensuring opportunities progress from early engagement through to contract signature and portfolio onboarding.

  • Collaboration across Portfolio Management, Legal and Contract Management is central to delivering scalable solutions aligned with regional market strategies and portfolio constraints.
  • Build and maintain a fully qualified deal pipeline across Southern Europe, covering generator PPAs, corporate PPAs, corporate supply agreements, OTC energy commodity contracts and green certificate agreements.
  • Originate, prioritise and negotiate physical and financial energy contracts with renewable generators, corporate consumers and flexible asset owners to maximise incremental NPV.
  • Lead renewal and expansion of the Route‑to‑Market portfolio for the Italian and Spanish markets, coordinating closely with Portfolio Management, Legal and Contract Management.
  • Act as the main commercial point of contact for assigned Southern European clients, covering contract renewals, performance follow‑ups and ongoing commercial dialogue through cross‑functional coordination.
  • Represent the organisation in Southern European markets at conferences, fairs and industry forums, and maintain active engagement with developers, IPPs, investors, banks, utilities, advisors and relevant TSOs/DSOs where possible.

This is a 1‑year fixed term contract.

About You: The ideal candidate is a commercially driven originator with strong motivation to grow renewable and corporate energy solutions across Southern European markets. They thrive in complex, fast‑moving environments and take ownership of opportunities from initial market engagement through to deal execution. A structured and resilient approach, combined with strong stakeholder management, underpins success in navigating regulatory diversity, risk profiles and portfolio considerations across the region.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in energy commodities, flexible assets or structured origination, preferably within power markets, with exposure to Southern European market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure, negotiate and close complex energy transactions or deliver consultative selling of long‑term, CAPEX‑intensive solutions.
  • Strong domain knowledge of the energy industry, including wholesale and ancillary market regulation, renewable and storage assets, flexible asset optimisation and route‑to‑market models.
  • Experience or familiarity with PPAs and related products (e.g. cPPAs, FPAs, Biomethane GPAs), alongside basic understanding of project finance and master trading agreements.
  • Proficiency in English and preferably one relevant Southern European language, together with the ability to build, manage and execute a robust commercial pipeline using CRM tools.
