One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it. We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon footprint.
We’re looking for skilled Electricians to join our experienced Field Engineering team, ensuring our customers receive exceptional service exactly when they need it. Being there for our customers is our priority, and you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our British Gas Service Promise of same-day fixes and installing electric vehicle charge points.
Base Salary: £41,389 with uncapped OTE - £51,389 is a realistic expectation through our comprehensive field reward scheme. As a British Gas Electrician, you’ll use your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality electrical work in customers’ homes, from fault finding and installations to full rewires and EV charge point installations. You’ll need at least two years’ experience as a qualified electrician. EV installation experience is a bonus, but if you don’t have it yet, we’ll give you the training and qualifications to get there.
Your customer service excellence and problem-solving abilities will enable you to diagnose issues efficiently and work safely to ensure first-time fixes whilst promoting British Gas products and services through professional advice and expertise.
What we’re looking for:
- City & Guilds 2365 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent), culminating in a Level 3 Technical Certificate including the National Electrotechnical Training (NET) AM2 certificate
- Demonstrable experience working in the electrical industry
- Current City & Guilds 2382 - B.S. 7671 IET Wiring Regulations certificate
- City and Guilds (or equivalent) would be highly desirable
- City & Guilds 2921 / 2919 EV charging is desirable
We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
If you’re full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.
