Join us, be part of more. We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team: At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it. We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon footprint.
Overview: At Centrica Home, we're combining the strength of British Gas, the innovation of Hive, and the power of digital, data and agentic AI to help shape the future of energy and home services. As customers transition to lower-carbon, smarter and more connected homes, we’re transforming how we serve them — creating new products, services and business models that support a more sustainable energy future.
As a Transformation Director, you'll be at the centre of that journey, leading complex transformation programmes that deliver meaningful change for our customers, colleagues and business. You'll partner with senior leaders to shape strategy, drive execution and unlock long-term value at scale.
About the role: Some of your key accountabilities will focus on the following:
- Strategic Business Partnership: Partner with senior business leaders to turn strategic ambitions into clear, achievable transformation plans. Provide strategic challenge, delivery leadership and practical problem-solving. Align priorities, investment decisions and transformation roadmaps. Bring an external perspective to value creation, risk and delivery.
- Transformation & Programme Leadership: Lead large-scale, complex transformation programmes and portfolios from design through to delivery. Deliver outcomes across scope, cost, quality and benefits. Ensure change is customer and colleague focused and embedded into business-as-usual operations. Drive accountability and sustainable business results.
- Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership: Harness digital, data, automation and AI to accelerate transformation and improve performance. Champion innovative, insight-led approaches. Shape technology and product direction alongside business leaders. Use data to identify opportunities, measure impact and inform decisions.
- Delivery Excellence & Governance: Provide the structure, governance and assurance needed to deliver transformation successfully. Partner with the TMO to prioritise and sequence delivery activity. Balance strategic ambition with operational realities. Maintain visibility of progress, risks, dependencies and benefits.
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration: Bring together leaders, teams and functions to enable aligned decision-making. Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders. Resolve competing priorities and complex delivery challenges. Create clarity and momentum across transformation portfolios.
- Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning: Help ensure the organisation has the capabilities needed for the future. Identify skills gaps and workforce implications. Support workforce planning and capability development. Foster a culture of learning, adaptability and continuous improvement.
- Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship: Ensure transformations are delivered responsibly and sustainably. Manage regulatory, operational and delivery risks. Embed effective governance and controls. Integrate ESG considerations into programme design and delivery.
- Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building: Lead high-performing teams and help embed new ways of working across the organisation. Set clear direction and expectations. Encourage collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes. Drive capability growth, behavioural change and lasting adoption.
What we’re looking for:
- Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills required: Significant experience leading large-scale transformation programmes or portfolios (£50m–£200m+). Strong understanding of the energy transition and its implications for customers, markets and business models — including low-carbon technologies, smart home solutions, electrification, energy flexibility and the shift towards more sustainable, digitally enabled energy services. Proven experience partnering with Executive and Board-level stakeholders. Strong background in programme delivery, governance and change management. Commercially minded, with the ability to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes. Experience leading digital, data and technology-enabled transformation, including automation, analytics and AI. Strong understanding of workforce planning, organisational capability and skills development including the development of transformation teams. Experience operating within regulated environments and managing governance, compliance and risk. Proven track record of delivering cultural change and embedding new ways of working. Comfortable leading through complexity and ambiguity while maintaining delivery focus.
- Education and Certifications: Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience. Knowledge of programme and project management methodologies such as Agile, MSP, PRINCE2 or Lean. Relevant professional qualifications in programme delivery, change, digital, data or risk management would be advantageous.
Why should you apply? We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
