Role Overview
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Engineer – Centrica CBS. Salary: £40,133 plus London allowance (depending on location) and bonuses, on‑call payments, excellent benefits. OTE: above £50,000. Location: North London, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Luton, Watford. Travel within the North of the River Thames to sites such as universities, leisure centres, hotels, hospitals and grid support sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend services, breakdowns, part replacement or engine rebuilds.
- Manage diary including oil store drops, collections and part pickups.
- Operate, monitor and maintain HVAC, WFI, purified water, and process equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems according to SOPs and safety policies.
- Maintain and secure spare parts inventory, recommend tools and equipment to improve efficiency.
- Support engineers in developing methods to improve facility processes.
Key Skills & Experience
- Self‑motivated with an eye for detail.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Skilled in customer or client communication.

Minimum Requirements
- Mechanical craft qualification or higher (C&G, NVQ, ONC, HNC).
- Experience in field service roles on reciprocating engines or generators.
- Ability to strip and repair engines to component level.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment.
- Strong problem‑solving ability.
- Good IT skills.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Excellent housekeeping standards.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on CHP plants or generators.
- Vehicle maintenance.
- Experience with engines such as MTU, CAT, Perkins, MAN, Mercedes, MWM.
