About your team: At Centrica Energy Storage, our mission is to store it. Our onshore and offshore teams are united in their goal, to boost the UK’s energy security and drive down bills for customers. Rough, our North Sea storage facility, currently provides half of the UK’s gas storage – enough to heat 2.4 million homes over winter. But we’re not stopping there. We’ve got our sights set on transforming it into the world's largest hydrogen storage facility and creating a Net Zero connected energy hub in the Humber.

As the leader of the offshore field operations team, you will be responsible for execution of the operational strategy for the Rough Offshore Installations including production and injection of gas to meet commercial requirement. As required you will also need to deputise for the field OIM.

Location: Hessle, Hull & Offshore

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leads and directs the Offshore Operations department of 5 direct reports and c. 10 indirect reports.
  • The role carries responsibility for the performance, management, and focus for the completion of planned, corrective, and emergent operational tasks.
  • Provide input and recommendation to Centrica Storage’s overall operations strategy and long term focus areas for improvement.
  • Performance management of 3rd party service providers and resources.
  • Monitoring and control operational manpower, budgets and consumable costs and maintain expenditure within departmental budget.
  • Supports the ‘Loss Reporting’ process through leadership of RCA and investigation of failures involving safety and platform critical equipment and processes.
  • Audit and monitoring of Rough Field Management process and procedure to ensure compliance and fitness for purpose.
  • Manages the Rough Field asset risk register.
  • Enacts the 365 operational planning process, and supports the field maintenance shutdown planning and enactment.
  • Ensures and verifies that installations are operated in accordance with relevant legislative standards, company policies, and individual equipment specific performance standards.
  • Verifies that the installations are run within the safe envelope of operation at all times.
  • As a member of the offshore leadership team, the role is expected to directly support the OIM in an emergency response management role, assume deputy OIM responsibilities as required, and work collaboratively with the OIM to define and manage local site policies and strategies.
  • The role is required to provide various HR and welfare support functions to the operation team.
  • The role is required to work closely with the asset and office based support teams to facilitate the design, construction and commissioning of major capital and revenue projects.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Required to have a minimum of Higher National Certificate in engineering discipline OR have equivalent industry experience.
  • A good track record of people management and be experienced in the maintenance of high pressure process plant, rotating equipment, life support systems and associated utilities.
  • Good team leadership and analytical skills; and the ability to influence and communicate at all levels are essential.
  • Well developed problem solving skills, using a variety of techniques to identify root causes and potential solutions.
  • Practical experience in the use of and implementation of electronic safe systems of work and isolation control systems.
  • Technical competence in a specific engineering discipline with a broad base understanding and knowledge of all other engineering disciplines, including production and processing, utility and power plant.
  • Knowledgeable in operation and integrity management of wells and ancillary equipment.
