The Bord Gáis Domain Architect is accountable for the end‑to‑end technology architecture across the entire Irish portfolio, providing technical leadership and architectural direction through a period of major transformation, including the migration to the ENSEK Ignition platform. The role shapes product‑aligned, outcome‑driven architecture that improves customer experience, strengthens operational performance, and simplifies the technology estate.
Acting as the key architectural partner for Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams, the Domain Architect ensures alignment to Centrica’s enterprise guardrails, maximises reuse of strategic platforms, and makes informed, commercially balanced design decisions. They bring whole‑system thinking, market and regulatory awareness, and strong delivery engagement to ensure that architecture is practical, buildable, and scalable. The role also lifts architectural capability across the domain by coaching solution architects and fostering a culture of clarity, quality, and continuous improvement.
Location: UK-based hybrid role, Occasional travel to site.
The Day to Day:
- Define and maintain the target architecture for all Bord Gáis business lines - Residential, Business and Services.
- Ensure these roadmaps align to Centrica’s enterprise standards and the strategic direction set by Retail Architecture.
- Provide clear architectural direction to guide the transition to ENSEK Ignition and the required simplification/convergence of legacy platforms.
- Design architecture around the outcomes that matter for Bord Gáis - customer experience, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance (CRU/industry), and commercial performance.
- Ensure architectural decisions directly support the OKRs for Billing, Customer Service, Market Operations, and Field Services.
- Champion the use of strategic platforms such as ENSEK Ignition and shared integration/API frameworks.
- Operate within Centrica’s architectural guardrails and decision rights.
- Ensure all designs meet enterprise NFRs, security standards, and data protection obligations.
- Design with an understanding of Irish industry processes (e.g., market flows, Gas/Elec market interactions, DSOs/TSOs, regulatory cycles).
- Work closely with the Platform, Product, and Bord Gáis programme teams to ensure designs are buildable and grounded in delivery reality.
- In partnership with Product and Finance, ensure architectural options factor in total cost of ownership, cloud economics, licensing, vendor risk, regulatory impacts, and operational cost‑to‑serve.
- Be the trusted architectural advisor for Bord Gáis leadership, including Product Directors, Programme Directors, Engineering Leads, and Technology Leaders.
- Coach and support the Solution Architects and engineers working across Bord Gáis initiatives.
