We're looking for a talented Head of Corporate Communications to lead proactive, high-impact communications that tell our corporate story and position Centrica as a thought leader. You'll manage communications for our corporate calendar and major announcements, build strong relationships with key journalists, and work with senior leaders. Key internal stakeholders will be Investor Relations, Secretariat, CEO office, Internal Communications, M&A, Regulatory Affairs and HR. Reporting to the Strategic Communications Director, you'll also work closely with the Head of Press Office on reactive matters. This is a pivotal role for someone with deep media expertise, exceptional influencing skills, and the ability to respond quickly while shaping strategies that advance our business objectives and reputation.
What will you be doing?
- Maintaining strong relationships to ensure consistent external narrative with media and stakeholders and to ensure Centrica's priorities and positions on issues are well understood.
- Leading on communications for the financial calendar, including Preliminary and Interim results, AGM, Mergers and Acquisitions activity, Capital Markets Day, compiling Q&A and the corporate snapshot. Also producing content and supporting the delivery of the Annual Report.
- Managing the CEO's engagement plan, including media engagement and thought leadership activities, events and supporting digital communications.
- Working closely with Regulatory Affairs and Public Affairs to develop and communicate Centrica's point of view on material issues.
- Working closely with Investor Relations to understand the investor proposition and any key issues impacting our shareholders.
- Leading on corporate communication of our People & Planet Plan and develop and deliver campaigns to drive corporate reputation (green recovery/decarbonisation/D&I).
- Develop and maintain relationships with key business and energy correspondents.
- Support the Strategic Communications Director to manage the design and implementation of the Corporate Affairs Strategy to drive reputation.
- Work closely with the Head of Press Office to support on reactive issues when required.
A self-starter with extensive experience in financial plc and corporate communications. Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders of varying seniority. Ability to develop and deliver engagement and communication campaigns across our professional stakeholder groups to drive corporate reputation. First-class written and verbal communication skills. Analytical with a keen eye for detail. Experience influencing Board/Executive Committee level internal stakeholders on policy/communications issues. Experience in drafting internal briefing documents for senior business leaders. Highly collaborative and able to work at pace on complex issues. Commercial acumen with the ability to align media strategy with long-term business goals, including legislative and regulatory change. Can travel at short notice to London and our various sites if required and can take part in the out of hours on call rota. Educated to degree level. Also helpful to have a solid understanding of the energy and services sector - or another highly regulated environment - with knowledge of the corporate and consumer landscape we operate in.
