About your role:

Cash & Banking is a critical function that supports the accurate management of customer payments, cash reporting and financial control across Centrica. As Cash & Banking Manager, you'll lead a business-critical team responsible for the governance, control and reporting of significant cash balances and customer payment flows across the Group. You'll play a key role in ensuring robust financial controls, operational excellence and regulatory compliance while driving automation, process improvement and standardisation.

Working closely with Finance, Treasury, Operations, external banking partners and offshore delivery teams, you'll help shape the future of Cash & Banking at Centrica, delivering improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls and support better business outcomes. You will support the design and delivery of a new service delivery model which will provide centralised, standardised and automated accounting for banking transactions and you will manage on-shore and off-shore teams to deliver Cash & Banking operations. This is an exciting opportunity to combine leadership, financial control and transformation experience while influencing how a major UK organisation manages one of its most important financial processes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the delivery of Cash & Banking activities across the Group, ensuring accurate accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting at an Enterprise-wide level.
  • Oversee the control and reconciliation of customer payment and refund accounts, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement initiatives in support of the wider Finance transformation agenda.
  • Deliver month-end, statutory, audit and regulatory reporting requirements to agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, identifying and mitigating financial, operational and fraud risks.
  • Partner with Finance, Treasury, banking providers and outsourced teams to ensure effective service delivery, governance and operational performance.
  • Support the implementation of new payment channels, banking processes and system enhancements, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
  • Lead, coach and develop onshore and offshore teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in Cash & Banking, Financial Control, Shared Services or a similar finance environment.
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, financial controls and reporting processes.
  • Proven experience leading teams and driving operational performance in a complex organisation.
  • Experience delivering process improvement, automation or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with outsourced or offshore service delivery models is desirable.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, customer payment processes and associated controls is advantageous.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a key financial control function within one of the UK's leading energy companies. You'll have the chance to drive meaningful change, influence senior stakeholders and play an important role in improving how Cash & Banking operates across the business.
