Overview

We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Marketing Campaign Delivery Manager to drive efficiency and growth for our brands. Working across all UK Centrica retail brands - from British Gas, a brand rich in heritage with a bold new brand platform built for future growth, to Hive, our innovative eco-tech brand leading the way in smart home sustainability - you’ll help deliver strategic planning and the execution of marketing operations, driving a more efficient and effective way of working to our teams and agency partners.

You are responsible for the seamless delivery, optimisation, and continuous improvement of email and SMS communications to our existing customers. The role works closely with Unica Developers, MarComms Managers, and Marketing Effectiveness to remove delivery obstacles ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and meet our ambition to be true visible customer champions.

As we move towards a more effective always-on strategy, this role will be accountable for campaign execution but also leading on continuous improvement — ensuring we are industry leading and the impact of our communications continue to improve over time.

About the role

  • Own and lead the end‑to‑end delivery of email, SMS campaigns and landing pages, using Unica Deliver ensuring campaigns are executed flawlessly, on time, and in line with agreed plans.
  • Take full ownership of campaign execution, including creative asset updates, HTML build, QA, and deployment, applying expert judgement to maintain consistently high standards and continuously raise the quality of our email and SMS output.
  • Set and uphold the quality of campaigns by performing rigorous, campaign‑specific QA to validate functionality, rendering, and performance across devices and inboxes, ensuring a best‑in‑class customer experience.
  • Actively remove blockers and friction, driving delivery forward and resolving issues before they impact timelines, quality, or performance, so campaigns land seamlessly and at pace.
  • Advocate the transition to an always‑on model, ruthlessly prioritising activity based on customer and commercial value, enabling scalable, effective, and industry‑leading communications.
  • Drive measurable performance improvement through continuous testing and experimentation, owning multi‑variant testing across audiences, segmentation, subject lines, creative, and send times, while constantly exploring new approaches rather than repeating what’s already been done.
  • Own the relationship with HCL, shaping the evolution of Deliver by influencing the roadmap and translating new capability into real value, accelerating our journey to best‑in‑class execution.
  • Push the boundaries of email and SMS, staying ahead of market trends and best practice and maximising tools such as Movable Ink, Litmus, and Playable, to deliver standout, industry‑leading communications.
  • Be the subject‑matter expert for the email channel, setting standards for templates, timing, process, and principles—and confidently challenging activity that doesn’t deliver the right customer or business outcome, ensuring quality is never compromised.
  • Own content review sessions with MarComms, using performance data and insight to challenge and improve creative, ensuring content continually evolves and outperforms previous activity.

What we're looking for

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills required

  • Strong understanding of how email and SMS fit within the broader customer lifecycle, marketing strategy, and always‑on communications model.
  • Knowledge of cross‑functional working within a large organisation, including collaboration with MarComms, Operations, Marketing Effectiveness, Technology, and external partners.
  • Understanding of how campaign delivery decisions impact customer experience, and commercial performance.
  • Ability to balance delivery demands with strategic improvement, ensuring activity supports both short‑term priorities and long‑term capability growth.
  • Clear understanding of customer behaviours, expectations, and preferences within digital communications.
  • Ability to interpret performance data and insight to inform decisions, optimise campaigns, and improve customer engagement.
  • Appreciation of the commercial context, including how email and SMS contribute to growth, retention, and customer trust.
  • Confidence to challenge activity that does not deliver the right customer or business outcome.

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.
