We're looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Capital & Financial Risk teams at British Gas. This is a standout opportunity to step into a broad actuarial role, where you'll work across capital, risk, regulatory reporting, and model development, not just one narrow discipline. You'll play a key role in supporting our Solvency II partial internal model, contributing to capital decision-making and regulatory insight, while working closely with the Head of Financial Risk & Actuarial on high-profile activities such as the ORSA and Actuarial Function Report.
Location: We offer a hybrid approach, with home working alongside time in our Windsor or London offices for team collaboration.
What you'll be doing:
- Capital Modelling & Reporting: Support the delivery of regulatory and economic capital results for senior stakeholders. Run elements of the capital model and produce high-quality, review-ready outputs. Contribute to validation, testing, and internal controls for PRA submissions. Support wider capital and strategic initiatives.
- Model Development & Insight: Enhance and develop components of the Solvency II internal model. Build forecasting tools and GLMs to generate business insights. Identify opportunities to use modelling to inform commercial decision-making. Drive process improvement across the capital team.
- Risk Management & Regulatory Oversight: Support production of key deliverables including the ORSA and Actuarial Function Report. Contribute to stress and scenario testing and review of technical provisions. Support oversight activities across underwriting, dividends, and risk appetite. Work closely with the PRA compliance team, including horizon scanning and regulatory monitoring.
Here's who we're looking for:
- Part-qualified actuary, making good progress with IFoA exams.
- Experience in insurance or a consultancy would be desirable.
- Exposure to Solvency II, ideally within capital modelling, reporting, or risk.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Experience with GLMs, simulation, or statistical modelling techniques.
- Coding capability (Python or R) and experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI).
- A confident communicator, comfortable taking ownership and working with non-technical stakeholders.
