Location: Stockport

Flex First: Work from home 4 days per week with every Wednesday in office

Bonus: OTE is £1k per month based on KPI achievement. Basic salary is £29,416

Department opening hours: 8am - 7pm Monday - Friday with 1 Saturday in 3 at 9am - 5pm

As a Contact Sales Agent at British Gas, you will be the first point of contact for potential and existing customers. Your role is to understand customer needs, promote suitable services, and deliver an exceptional customer experience that drives sales and loyalty. This position involves working on multiple telephone-based campaigns, ranging from direct product sales (e.g., boilers/ASHP/Solar), specialized lead generation, customer retention, and educating customers on innovative Net Zero and energy-saving solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent communication skills, and is comfortable pivoting between different product lines and sales objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Multi-Campaign Execution: Successfully manage calls and achieve targets across various campaigns, which may include:
    • Direct Sales: Proactively selling high-value products like new boiler installations, ASHP, Air Con and Solar.
    • Lead Generation: Identifying, qualifying, and scheduling appointments for field sales representatives.
    • Customer Retention: Contacting existing customers to maintain sales, resolve issues, and upsell/cross-sell new services.
    • Net Zero Products: Informing customers about grant-funded programs, heat pumps, smart thermostats, and other sustainability initiatives.
    • Customer Engagement: Conduct professional, persuasive, and clear communication with prospective and existing customers over the phone.
    • Adaptability: Quickly absorb new product knowledge, campaign scripts, and regulatory information for each project.
    • Target Achievement: Consistently meet and exceed daily and weekly sales, lead quality, and productivity targets (KPIs).
    • Data Accuracy: Accurately log all call information, outcomes, and customer data into the CRM system following strict compliance and data protection guidelines.
    • Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, GDPR), and campaign guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Experience: Experience in direct sales, telesales, cross selling or customer retention role.
  • Versatility: Proven ability to switch effectively between different sales activities and campaign objectives.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills, with a professional, engaging, and persuasive telephone manner.
  • Resilience: Demonstrated ability to handle objections, maintain composure, and stay motivated through periods of rejection.
  • Technical Aptitude: Proficient in using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, and standard Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications).
  • Industry Interest (Desirable): A genuine interest in energy efficiency, home improvements, or sustainable technologies (Net Zero) is a strong advantage.
