We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your role:

We’re creating a new role within the Finance Systems team to lead the delivery, automation and evolution of finance data, products and reporting across BG Energy. This is a high‐impact position with real influence: you’ll shape a newly created role, work closely with senior stakeholders, and drive major finance transformation initiatives. You’ll operate with significant autonomy, owning complex finance systems projects end to end and acting as a senior delivery lead and product owner for finance data and insight. Working across Finance, Operations, DTS and external partners, you’ll design solutions that protect financial integrity, support accurate billing and improve customer outcomes. This role suits someone who thrives in fast‐moving environments, makes sound judgement calls, and blends strategic thinking with hands‐on delivery. You’ll join a skilled, supportive team and play a meaningful part in improving the experience we deliver to customers.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Finance Systems Product Ownership
    • Own finance systems data models, reporting products and improvement roadmaps
    • Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, controls, automation and insight
    • Partner with Finance, Operations, DTS and suppliers to shape requirements, define outcomes and design tactical/strategic solutions
    • Translate business needs into clear, prioritised backlog items
    • Balance risk, regulatory needs and business value when sequencing work
    • Validate data outputs, including testing, reconciliations and financial controls
    • Ensure finance data and insights are presented clearly for non‐finance audiences
  • Project & Complex Change Delivery
    • Lead multiple finance systems initiatives, managing scope, dependencies and risks
    • Break down complex problems into structured delivery plans
    • Provide direction to engineers and analysts on outcomes, timelines and quality
    • Manage delivery across internal teams and suppliers, holding contributors to account
    • Track progress, resolve issues and provide concise updates to senior stakeholders
    • Ensure solutions are embedded effectively and benefits realised
  • Data, Systems & Technical Contribution
    • Work confidently across data and systems, understanding structures, flows and opportunities
    • Use coding skills to interrogate datasets, investigate anomalies and validate financial outcomes
    • Assess data reliability, controls and financial integrity risks
    • Champion strong data quality, documentation and governance practices
  • Stakeholder Leadership
    • Build trusted relationships with senior finance and operational stakeholders
    • Act as the accountable owner for assigned initiatives
    • Translate between finance, technology and operational perspectives
    • Influence through analysis, clarity and communication
    • Foster collaborative working across finance systems and wider teams

Here's what we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Significant experience working in or alongside finance teams and finance systems
  • Experience with complex, high‐volume billing systems
  • Proven track record delivering complex projects or change in regulated or large‐scale environments
  • Strong understanding of data, reporting, analytics and financial controls
  • Coding proficiency (e.g. SQL, Python) for data interrogation and issue investigation
