We're so much more than an energy company. We're a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn't rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities.

The B2B Senior Domain Architect holds the primary strategic technology relationship across our business brands, acting as the trusted architectural advisor who shapes and maintains cross-portfolio technology roadmaps, sets architectural direction, and identifies future capability needs. This role defines and sustains the long-term architectural vision for the B2B domain, ensuring it is translated into actionable, executable direction across transformation and change initiatives.

Working closely with Product, Commercial, Operations and Platform engineering leaders in Energy Supply and Field Service execution, the architect influences priorities, ensures technology choices align to business outcomes, and maintains coherence across a diverse B2B technology estate. The role also champions innovation, leveraging automation and AI-enabled tooling to enhance architectural quality and accelerate design cycles.

Coaching the Architecture community and engineering to uplift capability, strengthen architectural maturity, and ensure consistent application of architectural standards across all B2B brands. You'll join a team modernising our platforms, strengthening cyber and operational resilience, and advancing a product-led way of working that brings engineers, data specialists and business experts together to deliver meaningful outcomes at pace.

We're scaling automation and AI from proof-of-concept into real, end-to-end change - improving customer journeys, reducing cost-to-serve, accelerating delivery, and building the digital foundations that underpin everything from energy trading and risk to field operations and critical infrastructure.

If you want to work on complex, high-impact problems using modern engineering practices, and help build reusable platforms that will shape how Centrica operates over the next decade, this is the place to do it.

The Day to Day:

  • Strategic Partnering & Domain Leadership: maintaining the primary strategic technology relationships with counterparts across Centrica Business.
  • Cross-Portfolio Roadmap Ownership: Shape, maintain, and continuously refine cross-portfolio technology roadmaps for B2B brands. Ensure roadmaps reflect the Retail Technology strategy while enabling each brand's specific propositions and operational goals.
  • Architectural Decision Support & Trade-Off Analysis: Lead option evaluations and design assessments, articulating trade-offs across cost, complexity, customer impact, delivery risk, strategic alignment and long-term maintainability.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Leadership: Act as the escalation point for design risk, ensuring decisions remain compliant with security, regulatory, and technology guardrails. Apply and promote architectural quality to maintain integrity and consistency across the domain.
  • Innovation, Automation & AI-Enabled Architecture: Continuously assess new technologies, patterns and approaches that could strengthen the architectures, improve solver and customer experience or reduce operational cost and complexity.
  • Coaching & Architectural Uplift: Provide day-to-day coaching to the Architect community and wider technologists, ensuring architectural standards, patterns and design principles are consistently understood and applied.

Experience delivering solution and domain architectures across multiple projects or platforms in a B2B domain. Strong understanding of business processes and their alignment with technology solutions. Strategic thinking with the ability to plan and implement mid to long-term technology roadmaps. Experience with architectural governance and compliance in a large organisation. Demonstrates the safe and responsible use of AI tools, with clear knowledge of when AI use is appropriate and strong awareness of accuracy, bias and compliance.

Bringing the ability to design and reuse prompt templates to support consistent, high quality workflow outputs, and skilled in using AI to triage, classify and analyse information within Centrica policy guardrails. Strong ability to recognise higher risk scenarios and escalate to governance or security as needed.

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.
