An opportunity to play your part: As Head of IS Engineering at Centrica, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how engineering supports and drives the wider business, bringing energy, pace, and clarity to a complex and ever-evolving landscape. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee engineering delivery across operational, production, construction, and maintenance environments, creating a seamless connection between strategy and execution.

Acting as a true generalist across the Engineering function, you'll bring together multiple disciplines alongside a strong Salesforce capability, ensuring systems are robust, scalable, and aligned to real-world needs. You'll take pride in turning complexity into simplicity, leading a team that delivers high-quality engineering outcomes while continuously improving how technology enables performance, innovation, and customer value across Centrica.

Location: UK-based hybrid role, occasional travel to site.

Day to day:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering platforms, owning the full software development lifecycle from design through to run, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned to business and customer needs, with a strong integration of Salesforce capabilities.
  • Drive the design and implementation of new features and enhancements, using a data-led, experimentation-focused approach to shape current and future architecture across multiple engineering disciplines and Salesforce.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineering managers and senior engineers, setting clear technical direction, participating in design reviews, and building a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
  • Embed engineering excellence by continuously improving deployment, monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices, while tracking and optimising performance through meaningful engineering metrics.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders and product peers to define platform and Salesforce strategy, manage communications, and ensure alignment on roadmaps, priorities, and delivery outcomes.
  • Apply strong commercial and customer focus, using cost management insight to support business strategy, solve real customer pain points, and deliver measurable impact across complex, multi-service platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and define how platforms integrate across a complex organisational landscape, ensuring alignment, scalability, and long-term business value.
  • Hands-on experience driving innovation through hackathons and collaborative initiatives, including working with partners such as Microsoft and Datadog to bring new ideas to life.
  • Deep expertise in influencing and advancing specialist engineering domains such as Security, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Quality, driving best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Track record of embedding a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and innovation, using new technologies and approaches to challenge the status quo and improve outcomes.
