Join us, be part of more. We're so much more than an energy company. We're a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn't rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That's why working here is MoreThanACareer.

We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it. We're looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Risk & Actuarial team at British Gas. This is a great opportunity to step into a broad, second-line actuarial role, where you'll work across risk, technical provisions, underwriting oversight, and regulatory activity - not just a single technical discipline. Your work will directly influence how we manage risk, meet regulatory expectations, and make better decisions across a large, customer-focused business.

Location: We're happy to talk about what flexibility looks like for you. We offer a blend of home and office working, with team time at our Windsor site when needed.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting our Home Care insurance products (boiler and central heating cover), you'll play a key role in ensuring we manage risk effectively while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Technical provisions & actuarial insight
    • Support the quarterly review of technical provisions
    • Help assess assumptions and ensure robust actuarial outputs
  • Underwriting & reinsurance oversight
    • Assist in overseeing underwriting activities
    • Support the Chief Actuary in forming opinions on underwriting and reinsurance strategies
  • Risk management & ORSA
    • Contribute to broader risk management activities, including the ORSA process
    • Support stress testing and scenario analysis
  • Regulatory & PRA activity
    • Support PRA compliance, including horizon scanning and regulatory monitoring
    • Contribute to maintaining a strong governance and risk framework

Here's who we're looking for:

  • A part-qualified actuary, progressing well through IFoA exams
  • Experience within insurance (ideally GI), consultancy, or actuarial risk
  • Good understanding of Solvency II / Solvency UK
  • Curiosity and a desire to develop across multiple actuarial disciplines
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset and confidence to operate in a second-line oversight role

This role is ideal if you're looking to move beyond a single actuarial specialism and develop into a more well-rounded actuarial and risk professional. You'll gain early exposure to second-line oversight, regulatory frameworks, and senior stakeholders - all within a role where your work has real visibility and impact.

Why should you apply?

We're not a perfect place - but we're a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That's why we've designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority. Help us, help you.
