As our UK Power Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in leading the identification of growth opportunities for the Centrica power business through acquisition, organic development and partnerships. The core objective of the role is to develop and progress a pipeline of opportunities, aligned to the Power strategy and investment criteria.
You will be required to attend meetings at our Windsor and London offices.
Key role accountabilities:
- Establish a structured approach to assessing and developing investment opportunities.
- Set clear targets and deliverables for the development function in pursuit of the Power strategy.
- Use market intelligence, trends, technology advancements, and policy developments in the electricity sector to inform investment decisions and strategic direction.
- Coordinate input from internal and external sources to support the valuation and commercial assessment of investments.
- Manage relationships in Joint Ventures and partnerships to progress development.
- Provide expert advice to support decision making across investments in storage, renewables and dispatchable generation.
- Manage due diligence activities for acquisitions, new development, Joint Ventures and new technologies, building strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure robust decision making.
- Manage the development and progress of a pipeline of opportunities ensuring appropriate governance and timely decision making.
The Person:
- Proven experience in energy infrastructure development with a strong understanding of the electricity market structures and associated regulatory frameworks.
- Experienced in business development, commercial strategy, and/or investment analysis within the energy sector.
- Demonstrable expertise and leadership in opportunity assessment, business case development, and investment strategies for both development-stage and operational assets.
- Deep knowledge of the energy policy landscape, including the security of supply, decarbonisation plans, Support Scheme, grid connection processes, and the roles of key regulatory bodies.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in energy generation, storage, hydrogen, CCUS, and onshore/offshore wind.
- Ability to translate market and regulatory insights into actionable commercial strategies.
- Skilled in managing complex stakeholder relationships including development partners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and build cross-functional alignment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, delivering high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across disciplines such as Commercial, Finance, Trading, Legal, and Technical to maximise investment value.
- Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of value drivers for both existing assets and new transactions.
- Proactive, tenacious, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
