Centric Talent is currently recruiting for a skilled Air Import Gateway Operator to join our client’s team at their busy air operations centre in Hounslow. Role Purpose
As an Import Gateway Specialist, you will manage all aspects of airfreight import operations, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and cost-effectively. You will work closely with airlines, customs authorities, and internal teams to deliver a high standard of service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Import Documentation & Compliance: Review and process import documentation, including Air Waybills, invoices, packing lists, and permits. Prepare and create ETSF records using the Descartes system.
- Shipment Coordination: Monitor inbound shipments and arrange transfers. Ensure timely delivery and update shipment statuses accurately in internal systems.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, customs brokers, and internal departments. Provide proactive updates to customers and resolve any operational issues efficiently.
- Cost & Data Management: Record shipment costs and verify invoices for accuracy. Maintain accurate records using systems such as CargoWise.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement: Carry out checks on cargo labelling and documentation. Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and compliance.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in air imports/exports or a similar logistics role (preferred).
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service focus.
