Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Rough Sleeper Support Worker to join our Manchester team, based in our Northern Quarter office — a vibrant and accessible part of the city.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
About the team
Our Manchester Rough Sleeper complex case service works directly with young people experiencing, or at risk of, rough sleeping. We engage with them through outreach, provide a psychologically informed environment, and work closely with local authorities, health, housing and community partners to help each young person find safety, stability, and opportunity.
About you
You’ll have experience supporting vulnerable or excluded individuals — ideally young people — to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. You’ll understand the issues that lead to homelessness and have the confidence to work with partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes. You’ll be proactive, resilient, and compassionate, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to Centrepoint’s values of integrity, energy, humility, accountability, focus and entrepreneurship.
What you’ll be doing
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people who are sleeping rough or at high risk of homelessness.
- Providing practical advice, advocacy and support to access safe housing, health services, and meaningful activities.
- Conducting regular outreach and liaising with local partners to identify and support young people in need.
- Developing co-produced, strengths-based support plans and risk assessments that empower young people to move forward.
- Promoting safeguarding and ensuring all work aligns with Centrepoint’s psychologically informed environment model.
What we’re looking for from you
- Experience supporting vulnerable young people or adults in crisis.
- Strong understanding of homelessness, safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches.
- The ability to work flexibly, calmly and professionally in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills.
- A genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Why join Centrepoint?
In return for your efforts, you’ll receive a competitive salary, excellent training and development, and a host of staff benefits including:
- 25 days annual leave, rising to 27 with service
- Healthcare cash plan and private medical insurance
- Income protection
- 5% employer pension contributions
- Cycle to Work and interest-free travel loans
