Overview

Responsibilities
- Support pupils individually, in class or small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development.
- Provide information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils.
- Supervise pupil self‑administration of medication; offer a high level of personal care for toileting, medication, and encouraging self‑help and independence.
- Carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists such as speech & language, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
- Assist with pupil mobility and emergency/short‑term needs such as toileting or injury.
- Contribute information to planning and review processes.
Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs.
- Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
- Ability to register with SSSC within 6 months of employment (Early Learning Centres, Primary and Special schools) and complete required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
- Qualifying education or professional development: NC in Early Education and Childcare (SCQF Level 6), SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) (SCQF Level 6), Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance (SCQF Level 6), or equivalent.
- Good IT skills.
