This is a skilled roadworker role within the Roads and Transportation Service, carrying out roads and footpath maintenance and construction activities. It will be based at Bankhead Central, Glenrothes, but working at various locations across Fife. The role involves a wide range of road and footway maintenance and construction activities as part of a team, including emergency services such as winter maintenance throughout the year:
- Safe excavation.
- Kerbing.
- Tarring.
- Installation of drainage systems.
- Installation of street furniture.
There may be occasional work in adverse weather conditions. The hours of work are split into Summer and Winter hours per week but average 36 hours throughout the year.
About the Person
You should have substantial experience of working in the roads maintenance and construction industry and the ability to work in all weather conditions. You should possess good communication skills and be able to apply them in different circumstances, e.g. dealing with members of the public. You should be a good team player and able to work with minimal supervision. You should be willing to participate in out‑hours emergency standby rotas. Overtime rates and/or fixed payments are paid where appropriate.
